The sole of D.D.Step "BAREFOOT" shoes is made of extremely thin rubber, allowing children to feel the ground while running and walking, preserving natural foot movements and ensuring adequate protection for the foot. The wide base of the shoe does not compress the foot, allowing the child's foot bones and tendons to grow and develop unhindered. This is especially important for the toes, as they are responsible for balance and proper motor skills. The minimalist design footwear provides foot protection and is extremely flexible, allowing the child's foot tendons and muscles to stretch and contract freely. 

As long as there is no pain, muscle or bone system problems, children's feet can and should develop without hindrance. Barefoot shoe-wearing allows this process to happen, mimicking the effect of bare feet: providing protection but not altering natural foot movement.
